Helander Metal Spinning Company: Excellence in Custom Metal Forming
Helander Metal Spinning Company specializes in creating custom metal components tailored to your exact specifications. Our core capabilities include Metal Spinning, Hydroforming, and CNC Machining, supported by a wealth of industry expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and a commitment to quality.
Custom Spun Metal Services
With in-house tooling services and a skilled prototyping team, Helander can take a metal spinning project from initial development through to final production.
Metal spinning—also known as spin forming—is particularly well-suited for producing hollow parts, especially those with circular cross-sections or conical shapes. The metal spinning process involves transforming a metal disc or tube (known as the blank) by rotating it on a lathe and applying pressure to form it to a mandrel.
Helander Metal Spinning offers a versatile range of spinning capabilities, including automatic CNC machines, hydraulic-assist machines, and manual spinning. We can accommodate parts up to 100 inches in diameter and various material thicknesses up to 2.50″. This process is ideal for producing high-quality, uniform components in both small and large quantities.
Metal Hydroforming
Sheet hydroforming is a metal fabrication process that uses pressurized fluid to shape ductile metal into complex components. A flat metal blank is placed on a mandrel, and hydraulic fluid forces it into the desired shape.
This process offers speed, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while minimizing material waste and secondary finishing. It’s ideal for producing intricate, complex, or asymmetrical components, including both convex and concave shapes.
Helander’s hydroform presses can accommodate blanks from 15″ to 25″ to produce draw depths of 7″ to 12″ with diameters of 12″ to 19″. This capability, combined with minimal secondary finishing, makes hydroforming an attractive production method for various industries.
CNC Turning and Milling
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is a manufacturing process that uses automated, high-speed cutting tools to remove material from a workpiece to produce custom-designed parts. Helander’s CNC machining capabilities include 13 lathes and 7 mills, allowing us to cut almost any metal alloy, including high-temperature materials like Inconel and titanium.
Our continuous investment in advanced equipment, combined with in-house fixturing and tooling expertise, enables us to handle complex machining demands while maintaining the highest quality standards. This makes Helander Metal Spinning Company the ideal partner for producing custom machined parts across a wide range of industries.
