HYDROFORMING

Hydroforming

A UNIQUE DRAW PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PARTS TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS.  HYDROFORMING IS A GREAT COMPLEMENT TO

METAL SPINNING.

THE HYDROFORMING PROCESS . . .

What is Hydroforming?: In Hydroforming (a unique metal forming method known as unconventional deep drawing), material is forced on a steel punch by a rubber diaphragm, pressurized by up to 15,000 psi of hydraulic oil. Tooling for this process is inexpensive, unique shapes and fine details are readily produced, making hydroforming attractive for large or low production runs, as well as prototypes.

Benefits: Through Hydroforming, Helander Metal Spinning Company has the ability to form intricate shapes without wrinkles, surface lines, thin out, or distortion in much shorter lead times than other processes. Tooling is also very affordable ranging in price between two hundred and one thousand dollars.

Capacities: Helander can supply the customer with parts requiring a 20" blank diameter or less. Depending on part design, the maximum material thickness is:
  5/8" for aluminum, copper, brass
  3/8" for steel
3/16" for stainless steel and nickel alloys
